Prema Samajam was established in 1930 by Sri Maredla Sathyanarayana under the name Sri Sitarama Chandra Sevaka Nagar Samkeerthana Samajam, with devotion and spirituality as its guiding principles. Sri Sathyanarayana, along with his three sons and other devoted followers, would walk through the streets of Visakhapatnam in the early mornings, melodiously singing devotional hymns and spiritual songs, inspiring deep piety among the people.
During his early years, Sri Sathyanarayana led a wayward life, influenced by negative habits and behaviors. However, a life-altering incident—an unfortunate firecracker accident that resulted in the loss of his left palm—brought about a profound transformation in him. Much like the revered sage Valmiki, this experience led him to embrace a path of unwavering devotion. He became a staunch devotee of Lord Rama Chandra, dedicating his life to spiritual pursuits and service.
Today, Prema Samajam continues to uphold its founder’s legacy, fostering faith, devotion, and a spirit of service within the community.
